Hymns Of Praise
A few weeks back, Reverend Juliet asked the congregation of All Saints, Deganwy to suggest hymns that had a special meaning for them. Out of that list she a selection of hymns was chosen for a special service celebrating the joys of singing lovely church music.

We gathered together at All Saints on Tuesday 20th August and spent a very enjoyable hour singing the eight selected hymns. Some were old traditional hymns and some were more modern but all without exception were uplifting and enjoyable to sing. We were accompanied by Jeff Wright on the organ and Reverend Eryl Parry on guitar.

Reverend Juliet introduced each hymn by telling us interesting facts about the composer, why is was written, famous people who had covered the song.

Just to give you a flavour we sang in the well-known category Praise my Soul the King of Heaven and Amazing Grace and we also sang less well-known hymns such as Brother Sister let me serve you and Jesus is waiting.

We finished with Guide me oh thou Great Redeemer after which Reverend Juliet said, ‘That will have woken up the dog walker on the Vardre!’

To round off the evening we tucked into cheese and wine prepared by Betty who as usual put on an excellent spread.

We all hope that we run a similar event in the not too distant future.
